We Give Thanks

On Thanksgiving, we take the time to be thankful for what we have. We gather around with family and friends and celebrate each other's lives, and God's faithfullness in them. Today was no different, though our circumstances were. Today, we gave thanks for our son's recovery from surgery.

We gave thanks for the tiny glimpses of smiles we saw, and for the little bits of energy he mustered.

We gave thanks for the laid-back attitude the Lord gave our son, so that he could endure this pain so well.
We gave thanks for the ability to be together as a family, and a strong support unit. Though, most of the time we spent watching Veggie Tales over and over again.
We gave thanks for the little jokes we had with eachother, and the hugs and kisses we gave eachother.

At first, we were kinda sad that we wouldn't have a "special" Thanksgiving. We wouldn't be around family, or friends or a giant turkey. But now that I think about it, we had a memorable Thanksgiving, a day that we could truly be thankful for (even if we were just thankful it was finally over!)
Dear Lord, we give thanks for our family on this day. We thankyou for the love you have given us, and the time you've allowed. We thank you for a resilient kid who inspires us everyday with his giggles amidst huge obstacles. We thankyou for who you are and what you have done for us.
We give thanks.

After reading your post Philippians 4:12-13 came to mind,
"I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength."
You guys are an example of what it mean that to live is Christ! Keep leaning on Him! :)

oh and since you're with lauren on monday we'll wait till you come back, but hopefully we can connect with you soon when you come to Sac!! :)
