Pavlov's theory

When I was in junior high, I studied psychology and Pavlov's experiment. To summarize: He learned how to make a dog salivate by ringing a bell each time it ate. Eventually, all he would have to do was ring the bell, and the dog would think of eating and salivate. I remember thinking it was sort of a weird experiement, and then I quickly moved on with my life.

14 years later......

I was sitting in my son's room trying to lull him to sleep and Pavlov came screaming back to me. Totally skeptical that it would work for babies, I brushed the idea off. But, after weeks of desperation, I decided that there wasn't much to lose. So, I decided to try turning on a specific CD everytime he was in his room. If he was eating in the middle of the night, I turned it on. If he was crying but needed to sleep, I turned it on. If it was his afternoon naptime and he refused to do anything but scream.... I turned it on. After about a month of this, I began to see a profound change in the way my baby reacted to the music he was hearing.... it was working!

Now, at 6 months old he can be wide awake in the middle of the day, but if I play that music, he falls asleep. I swear it sounds crazy, but it works.

The only downfall: The CD I use is already starting to skip!

Oh my gosh such an adorable picture. Aren't they so beautiful when they sleep. I always want to kiss their sweet little mouths and cheeks and then I wake them up. We have invested in many lulluby cd's yes it does work. Praise the Lord
