I CAVED

So, I have been the pacifier nazi since Eli was about 3 months old. Worried that he might become too attached to it, I took it away when I saw that he was losing interest in it. I watched as he began to suck on his fingers and less on the paci, and quickly jumped at the opportunity to get rid of it.

Then came this week when we had the worst bout of teething rage yet. I tried with all my might to comfort him in every way possible, but nothing seemed to work. Finally, out of desperation, I brought back the pacifier to rave reviews and instant success.

I am not one of those moms who feels the need to take things away for the heck of it, it's not even on principal that I took it away. I just thought I was doing what was best for him. But this week, when I saw him soothed and happy I realized that it didn't really matter if he wasn't on a pacifier but was in a lot of pain. So... I caved. And as you can see he responded quite happily.

All I can say about this is that binkies are wonderful things. Until I had my own kids I looked down on those moms who let their kids keep them forever... but I think I'll be the one being looked down on soon. :) I'm glad it's helping his little teeth.
You're such a good mama.

I love the pacifier. My girls had them til they were one and a half and then ditched them.
